Fields of Gold

What better way to relax, with a lovely glass of something chilled and the sun setting overhead...
The barbecue lit, a comfy bed only feet away and the promise of doing it all over again tomorrow...

Outside our tent we sat, only an hour away from home yet it could have been several. We watched the sky turn pink (along with my cheeks!) and finally started to remember what Summer should feel like. You will see from the picture above that the orange squash has now been happily replaced with a very large bottle of rose from tesco for a fiver. It lasted the whole weekend and was very gluggable indeed.

The campsite we stayed at was just outside Bourton on the Water, a really lovely place. Have you been? you should. It is INCREDIBLY touristy, but we very smugly snuck in early on Saturday, whilst only the locals could be found, grabbed provisions (ie. bacon, bread rolls) grabbed an even quicker coffee (have turned into a complete coffee snob since buying the cafe and learning about coffee) and then headed back to camp to enjoy the peace and quiet.

This was the beautiful sight we were met with when we first arrived at the site. Isn't it beautiful? Golden fields as far as the eye could see...

The cafe is finished, decor wise, and I am now turning into a real Monica and cleaning everything in sight. The oven, the griddle, the dishwasher?! I think the cutlery is next. And then maybe the floors again..

I can also start accessorising a bit now. We have a 'mosaic lady' frantically mosaicing as you read, so we can decorate our walls with her fabulous works of art. There may be a potter to come on board, as well as an artist...I love the idea of having lots of beautiful things to look at whilst enjoying a cup of coffee, and supporting local artists and businesses as much as possible is important too. We have found a new, local ice cream company which is very exciting, as we can help each other out on the PR side, and we are just about sorted with local meat as well.

Exciting times...think we may go camping again next weekend, if only to get a little bit of sleep...

Wow those skies are just amazing hun.
And it sounds like the camping trip has given you the rest you needed. Just right for you sweetie, you busy, busy girl.
Have a lovely time next weekend, will you go to a different site of the same?
I think everywhere is beautiful where you live. So many lovely places to choose. One day I hope Ben will want to move back because my bags will be packed as soon as he says so lol
Enjoy the week, looking forward to more gorgeous photos of the No.9
Many hugs.

Happy birthday to your mum.

Your photos are amazing. I went to Bourton on the Water about 10 years ago and it was beautiful.

Hope you're having lots of fun. Can't wait to see more of the shop.

Hello camping-girl.

And Happy Birthday to Anna's Mum - that photo is fabulous!

You know how much I love Bourton too - once the tourists are filtered out. Good campsites are always harder to find than I think, so I'm glad you've discovered another one. That may be a good place for a camping meet up at some point?

Yawn - sould do with one of your coffees this morning....

A Big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Anna's mum! Hope you've had a lovely day.

Lovely tent you have there - we don't have one, and I'm thinking maybe we should. But then again, camping's not my thing ... so maybe I won't bother?!

Can't wait to see the mosaics - I LOVE moaics.

That is the most beautiful sunset!

Unfortunately I've become a terrible coffee snob too. It all began with my first visit to Monmouth Coffee in London. Definitely worth a visit (and you could sneak a peek at their technique while you're waiting!).

And being a complete neat-freak myself, I completely get the Monica thing. Can't wait for more pictures. I'm sure the cafe is looking amazing! K x

Hi Anna
your camping trip looks wonderful and has deperately made me want to go camping again, only we STILL haven't replaced our broken tent, must do that soon
I am very very excited for your cafe Anna, i keep thinking about you and it and can't wait to see how it looks when finished. The best cafes I have ever been in have all had lovely things to look at, I love the mix of art/craft/decorations with cake/coffee/nice furniture etc its soo appealing. I saw a lovely one featured in a mag once which was a hybrid shop/cafe, the cafe walls were filled with pictures, shelves and hooks/pegrails containing vintage/shabby chic stuff which was all for sale but in the meantime was also beautiful to look at. anyhow, sorry for the ramble, i think by you doing this you are living the dream for a lot of us, soooo excited for you!

ps glad you got the hooks from Girls own store, so chuffed about that

Happy Birthday to your Mum!

Like Tracy, I'm interested in heaing your opening date ...

And that is rather a posh tent - or at least it looks posh to me, but then I know NOTHING about camping!

Oh Anna it looks like you had a wonderful time. What a beautiful spot for a campsite. So good to hear that the orange juice was replaced with something pink!
I haven't been to Bourton but I remember it well from a geography project had to do when she first started secondary school!!
Happy Birthday to your lovely mummy too!
Your cafe sounds like it is going to be amazing, hope you get another weekend away to relax before it opens

I love Bourton on the Water, its one of my favourite places! I love the house thats in the middle of the river down towards the car park end, it was empty for ages but last time I visited there, the builders were in...I was hoping to win the lottery and make an offer..lol.
What a nice break before your new venture! Hope your mum had a lovely birthday.....Claire x
