Is it really 2008? Where did that go, then?

We have had a great couple of days, being thoroughly spoiled at my brothers in laws (does that make any sense?) it was quite the family occassion, and lots of champagne and yummy food was consumed by all.

Me and my Mum. Hmm, I suspect you don't need to be Columbo to work out that this was taken several glasses of vino down the line..the ruffled hair and shiny chin don't help to conceal my slightly daft expression. I also appear to have developed a shiny left boob...interesting. At least Oscar and George didn't appear to mind too much...

Baring in mind they were surrounded by 20 0dd fairly loud, tipsy 'grown ups' I think they did remarkably well. I only wish we had slept as well last night!

Husband on left, brother on right...

Come on then, hands up how many people were playing golf at 1am this morning...That's my Mums birthday present sorted. Rob was quite into it as well...

Ooh, the concentration! (slightly hindered)

I can't say I have much in the way of exciting resolutions for this coming year, apart from those I am keeping close to my heart. Other than that,

* No alcohol again. Ever. No really.

* No more chocolate. Ever. (heehee)

* More exercise (possibly a walk to the shop where they stock wine and Lindt chocolate)

* Open my Etsy shop at long last!

* Grow some weird stuff at the allotment. (I don't mean illegal weird stuff, more odd varieties of beans, etc.)

* Celebrate being 30 - we decided last night that we are going to hire a VW camper van for the week and be hippies.

* Continue to be very happy with my lot.

Happy New Year. xxx

Thanks for visiting my blog - very nice to meet you, we seem to have quite a lot in common! Good luck with the weird veg growing! How long have you had your allotment? I had a quick scroll through your blog and love your jewellery so I'm looking forward to seeing your Etsy shop! Lucy x

heeheehee...No golf here at 1am...but there was champagne! ;o) Sooo lovely to see all the photos of you & your family! It looks like a very festive ringing in of the New Year. Your list mirrors some of my own heart-held wishes for the new year. If I could just balance the chocolate/sweets consumption with more excerise, I wouldnt' feel so quilting about the chocolate in the first place--LOL! So excited about your shop and will be tuning in here in the months ahead to see all the pretties and much more. Happy 2008! ((HUGS))

I did play golf...but on my son's Nintendo Wii, which is just as difficult as the real thing! But I was in bed by 10 O'c, a real party pooper!

Great idea about the camper van trip - have a look at http://www.oconnorscampers.co.uk/our_vans.htm# Battenburg and Kissinger are my favourites - one day I WILL own one! I fancy having one now to use for the school run. The children would love it.

Happy New Year. x

Happy New Year! Having a VW is on my list...maybe I'm just a hippie at heart too!
Cavalo Nero is on my veg growing list this year. Inspired by Jamie Oliver, I made it on Boxing Day and it was delicious.

Sounds like you had a wonderful evening. Imagine a life with no chocolate or alcohol ...! I wish I still had an allotment and was able to buy all them bean seeds again - good luck with that and with your Etsy shop. I'm back to making stock for mine in the next few days if I can tear myself away from the chocolate!!!! Hope you get to keep as many resolutions as you want to!

You look so happy in that photo - lovely! Your resolutions sound very sensible, but I think you should add regular midnight golf to the list!

Looking forward to seeing your shop ...

happy new year.

followed your blog after reading your comment on plump puddings blog. I was intrigued by your olive and white lounge as our is olive and white too and we love it. Seems a lot of us have similar dreams, resoloutions etc from cutting out (or at least down) on chocolate and alcohol to opening an etsy shop and dreaming of owning a VW camper I spend time dreaming about what colour I would want it to be - currently orange and white is winning. Your New Year looked great fun, your mum playing golf looks fab.

Hello, my first visit to your blog & it's lovely!
I am very envious you have an allotment but we have an area at the bottom of the garden which I am hoping to turn into a raised veg & flower patch next year. Any tips ?

Your jewellery looks really pretty.
Happy New Year !

hi, thanks for the comment on my blog. Yes Ruby is very cute and very very playful, Our other cat Ivan likes to pretend he's cool and has taken to sneaking out of the lounge and creeping up to our bedroom to sleep in peace without having his ear chewed off. I'll try and remember to post a picture of him next time. have fun.

I love your idea of hiring a VW campervan for the week, we did this for a friend for her wedding present. They thoroughly enjoyed it!

I have just had a read through blog, I will be popping back on a regular basis, so I have failed miserably on one of my NYR for not spending to much time on the PC.

Oh dear how embarrassing - but if you read the blog I have had such a rough time with this move - our sellers agents are lovely and ours are a bit wet but ok - its our buyers agents that are horrendous - they do the worst thing in the world and thats - lie! We have been to see our new house today and I refrained from hugging the bays but I still love it and best of all so does my 21 year old daughter (relief there then!) when she saw it for the first time today. I love your house - what is the shade of green under the dado? My daughter is funny you dont think they notice things they are so busy being young free and single. She rang me just now and Mum why dont people know how to dress windows! Hmm the daughter of a curtain maker has started to take things in........... I have added you to my blog as I will be visiting you again if only to maker amends for my musings on eastate agents! Lovely to meet you

Sorry about this I am back again - reading some of your blog - found the colour of your paint! and have got as far (backwards ) as your brother on the sofa. I too have a brother whom I love dearly and he is a good friend. He was married to a lady for a wahile who hated our closeness and made him choose between me and her so I didn't see him much for a few years and the meetings we had were strained. Then about 8 years ago he left her - the strain was just too much - he and I had such a lot of catching up to do and now I see him and his daughters a lot more - how I missed him. We have very similar tastes and I am so glad he is in my life. Isnt it funny how awful they are to you when they are young he used to go in our toilet and make me beg to open it whilst I was dying to go!! Mind you I once got so mad when I was about 13 when he did it I kicked a hole in the door with my heel and then told my Mam he had done it - I only recently confessed the truth to my Mam! I let him suffer for years. I love your jewellery looking forward to the etsy shop - why dont you stick some on your blog for sale some people do that. It looks beautiful where you live - that riverside walk is stunning - dont you find we sometimes dont realise how lovely it is where we live and go off miles away to see the scenery. Have you ever been to North Yorkshire? Right I am off to make sandwiches for late tea as we had a lunch out today. I really am going now............really............honestly........
