A host, of golden daffodils (well a jug actually)

I WANDER'D lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;Beside the lake, beneath the trees,Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way,They stretch'd in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:Ten thousand saw I at a glance,Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:I gazed -- and gazed -- but little thoughtWhat wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude; And then my heart with pleasure fills,And dances with the daffodils.
By William Wordsworth (1770-1850).

I had to learn that at school- that and 'The Jabberwocky'. Quite pleased I haven't got one of those on my lounge windowsill though...

Oh daffodils are my favourite flowers of all time! It feels as though spring is coming once there is a jug of them in the house.

Seeing them on your windowsill has brightened my whole day - and made me itch to go out and find some for my own windowsill now!

I quite agree that a jaberwocky on the window wouldn't bring such hopes of spring!

I have a remarkably similar jugful on the mantelpiece. And the first one came out in the garden yesterday!

I think I've got that jug too! It's perfect for daffodils. And big enough for gravy at Christmas!

Hi Anna! I found your delightful blog via DottyCookie -- um, gee, it was your name that piqued my interest, teehee. I adore your new little herb garden, am so envious that you're in the Cotswolds, and am drooling over that ginger cake -- if only we had some of those ingredients listed!

I am a big fan of the humble daff and an equally big fan of Jabberwocky... it is a family favourite and a usual cry of joy is ' O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
Lovely to see the sun today...I wondered what the bright orb in the sky was and then I remembered.

Beautiful daffs. I threw my daffs away this morning, such a shame as they were so lovely and sunny in the kitchen, Roll on Spring... I remember helping my daughter to learn Jabberwocky - yeuch!

I have a jug of tulips and a couple of pots of daffs - I am trying to bring spring into my home as quickly as possible and that is what your photograph reminds me of - spring!

It is so lovely to see the first of the daffodils arriving, your post reminded me to add them to my shopping list - the perfect remedy to all this filthy, grey weather. When walking today I was excited to see them beginning to emerge from the ground although I think it will be some weeks yet before we have any flowering here.

Awww I also love Daffs. As a child we had an enormous plot of land (with chickens and goats!) and there would be hundreds of them. We would have a million vases in the house filled with them!

Thanks for dropping by to my blog, you have a cutie blog right here too!
