How are you feeling? Souper thanks!

I meant to share this photo weeks ago, taken at the market in Cheltenham. Don't they look fabulous? Something far more appetising about clementines with leaves still attached than those without, for some reason...Hmm. Very Christmassy though!

Thankyou so much for all of your get well wishes..they must have worked! hurray! I am feeling A LOT better now, thankyou muchly.

It was so so lovely to go back to work this week. I had lots of smiles and cuddles from regulars, and lots of 'we missed you' type comments, which thrilled me no end.

It feels rather good to be getting back into the swing of thing, kicking the coffee machine, 'testing' new cake that is being made, inventing Christmas waffles recipes, etc.

Today was the second knitting and crochet morning, which was just great. Such fun to see a group of ladies having a whale of a time. Today was crocheted scarves, and despite being sorely tempted into joining in, I resisted. I struggled with the urge and then reminded myself that I have just had two weeks off...maybe next time! I don't want to become unpopular with our lovely staff for being a lazy bugger.

We have been making lots of new soups this week, Roasted Vegetable, Lentil Potage and Parsnip Ginger and Leek, to name but a few. I succumbed to yet ANOTHER new recipe book the other day, 400 Soups! But I am putting it down to being a work essential, obviously...I am not sure if it's a good thing, but I seem to constantly smell of soup! Could be worse, I guess.
Now, what shall we have for dinner tonight?

I agree about the Clementines our local fruit shop advertises them with or without leaves!! The soups all sound great , especially the parsnip one . Glad to hear you are back on your feet/

Those clementines look lovely. Mind you, I always think apples look best with a leaf or two attached too.

So pleased to read you're feeling much better. Take care of yourself.

I want all three of those soups, and I want them NOW. S'pose you could seal them up in zippered plastic baggies and send them overseas?? The clementines look luscious, too -- thanks for reminding me to buy some to put in my children's shoes on St. Nicholas Day next week! (YAY on the feeling all better!!)

Oh you need the green leaves to marvel at the orange gorgeousness of the clementines. Methinks you might be having some soup tonight? Roasted vegetable soup would be my choice. If you need to carry on the market research re cake tasting further afield, I'm your man!

I lived for years in the UK (now NZ) and still miss Christmas in the cold weather. Even though I am a kiwi it still doesn't feel right to celebrate Christmas in the summer. A cold snap of snow and low temps would be nice for say 3 or 4 days. Miss clementines too though we do have a nice tangelo tree. Glad you are on the mend.

I have the lurgy. Feels like a golf ball is lodged in my throat. Thank goodness I had the forethought to freeze a portion of parsnip soup the last time I made some.

So comforting. Very happy clementines.

The sight of all that vitamin C is bound to make you feel better Anna...
I could think of a lot worse than smelling of a soup kitchen.. My beloved always comes back from his parents smelling like a chip shop.. and they hardly ever eat chips!
Methinks he might have a clandestine date with a fat fryer!
So pleased to hear you're on the mend my dear..
With love

Oh that roasted veg soup sounds scrummy.
Sorry I missed you last weekend sweetie and glad to hear your 100% better now.
It was bitterly cold last weekend so you where prob better off being snug in doors.
We'll have to see one another in the new year now, don't don't think we're coming up now before Christmas, Ben's mum is with us for all of it so that will be lovely.
Thank you hun for the lovely new home card and the email with the cafe in Broadstairs, oh how i love it there.
Good to hear everything is back to normal for you all and the cafe is doing fabulous (and why wouldn't it you work there with the biggest smile I've ever seen). See you soon sweet girl.
Love,
Catherine, Ben and the cupcakes xxx

Lovely to catch up with you too dear Anna, and so very glad to find you back to your usual chirpy self.
The clems look beautiful, I know I know about the leafy thing, I cannot resist them either when greenery is attached.

Something so comforting and heart warming about being Missed, eh, and lovely to hear that the hooking is going well chez no 9. Hoping that Julia will reveal some crochety goodness for us soon?? Julia??

I would be v grateful Anna, if you get chance, can you let me know your recommendations for a good soup book, the 400 recipe one sounds tempting? Soup is something I love to make, and do not possess a soupy book. Me need one me thinks
:o)
